The last time a Republican presidential candidate won the state of Oregon, gas was $1.10 a gallon and movie tickets were a paltry $2.50.

Trump OregonThe state went red — along with 48 others — when Ronald Reagan routed Walter Mondale for a second term.

Now, according to a new poll, Donald Trump may actually do something no Republican has done since: win Oregon.

The new survey released by Clout Research shows Trump slightly ahead of likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, 44.4% to 42.3%.

The survey notes Trump is commanding a massive lead among independent voters, 53% compared to just 26% support among independents for Hillary.

The polling firm notes:

Trump lead among independent voters is likely a result of a combination of his early attacks on Clinton, the strong primary election opposition of Bernie Sanders, who easily won the Democratic Presidential Primary election Tuesday, and her generally lackluster campaign effort in Oregon.

A contributing factor to her poor performance in the Clout poll is her underperformance among women, where she leads Trump by only 9%, far below her national performance among women.

Among men, Trump leads Clinton by 13%.

The poll finds 13% of Oregon voters are still undecided.
