Hillary Clinton lost and Donald Trump won Michigan on Tuesday — and Hillary’s campaign is feeling it.

Hillary Don FranciscoA surprisingly honest email sent by the campaign Wednesday shows they believe Trump is a force to be reckoned with.

The email from Deputy Communications Director Christina Reynolds, titled, “We lost Michigan last night,” reads:

This is it — after yesterday’s close loss in Michigan, we need your help to win this nomination for Hillary. With huge contests coming up on Tuesday in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, and Missouri, this is the most important moment to chip in to support this campaign, and I want you to be a part of it.

We know what we could face in the general election. Donald Trump won another three contests yesterday, and we’re going to need to build a hell of an operation to beat him — the polls suggest this race could get very tight. (emphasis added)

The implication there, of course, is that they don’t already have such a thing — and it doesn’t appear to be growing organically, so they’re going to have to “build” it.

Campaign manager Robby Mook predicted in a January email that if Trump wins the Republican nomination, he’ll win the presidency.

“If Donald Trump takes the Republican nomination, our party will lose more than the presidency,” Robby Mook wrote to supporters.

“Years of progress will be ripped away. Obamacare will be repealed. Marriage equality will be rolled back. Get excited to visit the wall on the Mexico border — and get ready to pay for it if President Trump can’t magically get Mexico to cough up the cash for it.”

Update 3/10/16:

The Clinton campaign is so panicked over Trump, they issued another email Thursday under Hillary’s name.

The Republicans are on the verge of nominating someone committed to ripping away all of the progress we’ve made under President Obama — a candidate who thinks we should take away health care from millions of Americans, give the rich huge tax breaks, and make discrimination the policy of the United States.

It’s going to take everything we’ve got to stop them — but first, we’ve got to win this nomination, and that’s not something we can take for granted.

It was not so subtly titled, “Stop Donald Trump.”
