Bill Clinton attempted to defend his foundation today, but may have admitted what everyone already assumed.

Speaking in an Atlanta bar, the former president told the Associated Press that donors “knew exactly what they were doing” when they gave to the Clinton Foundation.

“There are more than 300,000 people who have given money to our foundation from all over the world,” Clinton told a reporter as he was talking with a group of waitresses.

“We’re trying to do good things. If there’s something wrong with creating jobs and saving lives, I don’t know what it is.

“The people who gave the money knew exactly what they were doing. I have nothing to say about it except I’m really proud.”

Clinton dismissed the questions about Hillary meeting with foundation donors as it’s just “election season.”

While Bill and Hillary Clinton have said they will leave the foundation if she is elected president, donors were reassured they will still have leverage with Chelsea Clinton, as she’s not going anywhere.

She will remain on the board of directors, according to the Wall Street Journal.
