Bill Clinton says he didn’t like his sparring episode with a Black Lives Matter activist in Philadelphia Thursday because he’s getting old.

Erie Times-News reporter Sarah Stemen quotes Clinton as saying, “I confess maybe it’s a sign of old age, but it bothers me when that happens,” referring to the argument he had with them.

Clinton said, “I like and believe in protest. I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t because I engaged in some when I was a kid.”

“But I never thought I should drown anybody else out. And I confess, maybe it’s just a sign of old age, but it bothers me now when it happens.

“So, I did something yesterday in Philadelphia I almost want to apologize for, but I want to use it as an example of the danger threatening our country.

“Because, the founders set this country up so that we can keep growing and getting bigger and including more people, but we would always have to come together to make a decision that would move us forward.”

He added, “I know those young people yesterday were just trying to get good television and they did. But that doesn’t mean that I was most effective in answering it.”

At a sparsely attended rally in Philadelphia yesterday, Clinton was interrupted by the protester holding a sign that read, “Hillary is a murderer.”
